Leroy Sane to Galatasaray

Galatasaray have bolstered their attack for next season by agreeing on a deal to sign Bayern Munich forward Leroy Sane for free, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

Sane will sign a three-year deal with the Turkish League winners after failing to agree a deal with Bayern, with his contract set to expire on June 30.

The 29-year-old is expected to travel to Istanbul today to complete his medicals and officially sign his contract as he prepares to leave Germany for new champter.

The move will mark a significant part of Sane’s football career, who was looking for new experience away from the Bundesliga after spending several years in Germany.

Sane, who was in negotiations with the Bundesliga champions, Bayern, over a new deal, failed to come to a resolution in terms of numbers – with the German giants proposing a short-term contract, according to Bild.

He is expected to earn between £10-£11 million per season in Turkey, a slight drop on his reported £12.5 million annual salary with Bayern.

Despite the player’s agent initially claiming to have held positive talks with the Bavarian outfit, Sky Germany have since revealed Sane turned down an improved offer of a new deal.

Sane’s talent has never been in doubt. Calling for several top clubs, including Al Hilal, Arsenal, and Fenerbahce, to chase after his signature once a hint of “breakdown in negotiation” between Bayern came to light.

Arsenal was considered to be leading the race to bring the former Manchester City back into the Premier League, as they explored the option to capture the talented winger.

With his next destination now seemingly decided, there is no doubt that the move will represent a major coup for the Istanbul outfit.

Sane has proven to be an effective player for Bayern since his move from Man City five years ago – after enjoying four years of success at the Etihad Stadium.

He won two Premier League titles under Pep Guardiola at City and was named the PFA Young Player of the Year in 2018.

The Schalke youth product then joined Bayern for an initial €49m (£41m), plus €11m in add-ons, where he won four Bundesliga titles in five years.

In his final season in Munich, Sane scored 13 goals and added six assists in 45 appearances across all competitions.

Overall, he has bagged 61 goals and provided 55 assists in 220 matches for the club, being a regular figure in the starting line-up despite several changes in management during this period.
