Ghana captain Jordan Ayew promises turnaround ahead of crucial World Cup qualifier

Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew has reassured Ghanaians that the national team is fully committed to turning their fortunes around, starting with their 2026 World Cup qualifier against Chad this Friday.
Ghana will take on Chad in one of two games during the March international window, with preparations already in full swing.
The Black Stars have been training since Monday in anticipation of their upcoming matches against Chad and Madagascar.

Officials from the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation were present at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday to observe the team’s training session.
Despite failing to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) for the first time in 20 years and winning just two of their last 10 games, Ayew, who has been appointed as the team’s captain, remains optimistic that the squad is determined and ready to fight for the necessary results.

“We know we are in a difficult situation, but we will turn it around,” Jordan Ayew said after joining the team in training on Tuesday.
“When I see you guys (officials from the GFA, NSA and Ministry of Sports and Recreation) standing here, I know that definitely it’s going to be a positive result on Friday.”
Ghana are currently tied at the top of the World Cup qualifying table with nine points, alongside Comoros.
The Black Stars continued their training sessions at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday in preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.

All 23 invited players took part, each vying for a spot in the squad for the two crucial matches.
The team underwent intense drills and exercises aimed at assessing their readiness for the first match on Friday.
The players showcased their commitment and determination, eager to impress both the coaching staff and the fans who filled the stadium to witness the training session.
