Ghana’s U15 Boys secure semi-final spot with 1-0 win over South Africa

Ghana’s U15 Boys have made a significant stride in the CAF African Schools Championship, securing a spot in the semi-finals with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over South Africa at the University of Ghana Stadium on Thursday morning.
A match-winning goal from Ignatius Hagan was the decisive factor in Ghana’s triumph.
Despite the shorter match duration, with two halves of 20 minutes each, Ghana dominated possession and maintained defensive discipline to repel the determined South African side.

This win marks Ghana’s second victory in the tournament, following their impressive 2-0 win over Uganda in their opening game on Wednesday. The result ensures Ghana’s qualification to the semi-finals with one group game to spare.

Ghana will complete their group stage fixtures with a match against Algeria later on Thursday, aiming to top their group. The team is leveraging home ground advantage to compete against the best U-15 national teams from across the continent.
“The tournament is going well. Our target is to top the group, win the semis and lift the trophy,” said Ghana U15 coach Kwaku Danso after their win over South Africa.
Ghana will be looking to not only make a deep run in the tournament but also to host and win it on home soil. The team is determined to make their fans proud and bring the trophy home.
The competition brings together talented young footballers from across Africa, promoting youth football and talent development.
This is Ghana’s inaugural participation in the CAF African Schools Football Championship Continental Finals, and the team is determined to make a mark.
