GPL Matchday 8 Wrap: Aduana go top as Dreams end Samartex’s unbeaten start

Matchday eight of the Ghana Premier League produced some fascinating results, with Samartex suffering their first defeat of the season.

Aduana Stars climbed to the top of the table after a vital away win over Eleven Wonders, while Kotoko and Hearts both maintained their unbeaten runs.

In Hohoe, Hohoe United shared the spoils with Medeama in a pulsating 1-1 draw. Francis Odoom’s opener was cancelled out by Abdul Salam.

At Bechem, Bechem United and Nations FC played out a goalless stalemate at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park.

At the University of Ghana Stadium, Aduana Stars secured their third consecutive victory with a narrow 1-0 win over Eleven Wonders, thanks to Charles Gyamfi’s strike, handing new coach Joseph Sarpong a debut defeat.

In Swedru, All Blacks were held to a 1-1 draw by Heart of Lions. Rudolf Mensah struck late to cancel Chauncy Freeman’s opener.

At the Golden City Park, Berekum Chelsea ended their four-game winless run with a 1-0 victory over Vision FC. Seidu Abubakar’s first-half effort proved decisive.

In Tuba, Dreams FC ended Samartex’s unbeaten start with a 2-0 win. Seidu Suraj and Jonathan Nemordem found the back of the net for the ‘Still Believe’ side.

At Bibiani, defending champions Goldstars edged Young Apostles 1-0 courtesy of Samuel Atta Kumi’s goal.

In Ayinase, Hearts of Oak continued their unbeaten campaign with a 2-1 win over Basake Holy Stars. Franko Duku and Hamza scored for the Phobians, with Issah Yakubu netting the consolation for the hosts.

Finally, in Kumasi, Asante Kotoko bounced back from their CAF Confederation Cup disappointment with a commanding 4-2 victory over Karela United.
