Hearts of Oak held to goalless draw in Bechem

The Phobians have yet to concede a goal after four matches.

Hearts of Oak were held to a frustrating goalless stalemate away against Bechem United in matchday four of the Ghana Premier League at the Nana Fosu Gyabour Park.

Despite an improved display, the Hunters could not find the breakthrough, extending their winless run to four games this season.

Bechem coach handed Augustine Okrah his first start of the campaign, with Darlvin Yeboah leading the line alongside Emmanuel Abban and Foster Sakitey.

Hearts coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani made two changes from the side that beat Eleven Wonders, giving Prince Owusu Kwabena and Kelvin Assibey starting roles ahead of Ali Mohammed and George Paaku.

Hearts began brightly, with Prince Owusu firing wide early on before Hamza Issah wasted the best chance of the half.

Bechem responded strongly after the half-hour mark, with Abban spurning a good opportunity from Okrah’s cross, while Yeboah also saw his effort drift wide.

The hosts dominated after the restart, with Okrah and Abban both going close, but their efforts were either off target or blocked by a resilient Hearts defence.

Substitute Kofi Tompuo nearly snatched it late on, only to be denied by goalkeeper Benjamin Asare.

In the end, Bechem’s pressure came to nothing as both sides shared the spoils.

The Hunters remain winless after four games, with two draws and two defeats, while Hearts of Oak stay unbeaten with two wins and two draws, maintaining their perfect defensive record this season without conceding a goal.
