Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has left his thoughts on what Jack Grealish chooses to do in his private life, indicating his player will be ‘judged on the pitch’ rather than what happens in his spare time.
Pictures and videos on social media showing Grealish at a club with friends on a night out in Newcastle went viral earlier this week, and his manager has reacted to the criticism facing the Englishman
Asked about the viral videos of Grealish, Guardiola said : “A day off is a day off. “They have private lives to do whatever they want. I’m not going to control what they do in their private life.
“I judge what I see on the pitch, the training sessions and the performances in the game. What happens in terms of Jack, in terms of everyone, they will be treated at the end of the season. I don’t know what is going to happen but now we are playing for many important things.”
Pep’s response to criticism on Grealish is one that has got some Cityzens far from pleased, as they believe their forward continues to be unproductive and far from his best physical level this season.
Nonetheless, Guardiola says he’s fully focused on his team’s overall performance in games rather than the surrounding noise as he looks to see off a season ‘full of highs and lows.’
For now, Grealish’s return to regular action remains unclear after he sustained an injury against Real Madrid back in February in knockout playoffs of the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League.
He is most likely ruled out for the rest of the season and reports indicate that this could be his last summer at the club.
