FC Barcelona defender Jules Kounde has expressed his displeasure with his team’s fixture schedule after the Blaugrana faced Osasuna at home only a day after the end of the international break.
Kounde played the entire match as Barca beat Osasuna 3-0 on Thursday night at the Olympic stadium, but showed no smiles after the game when he interacted with the press.
Speaking to DAZN after the game, Kounde, who featured for 120 minutes in France’s penalty shootout win over Croatia in the UEFA Nations League days ago expressed his dissatisfaction with returning to action in La Liga hours later.
“We’re angry about the date of the game. It’s not normal. We’ve said it many times, the calendar issue. I know sometimes there are people who have a hard time understanding it”, he said.
He continued: “We’re very lucky to do what we do, I consider myself fortunate. To live off our passion and live well. But it’s disrespectful to the club to set this date.”
“It doesn’t matter if it’s Barça, Osasuna, or Real Madrid when it happens. It’s disrespectful to the players. We’re not machines, and to produce the game we produce and to give the fans what they want, we need a rest”, Kounde added.
