Lawrence Agyekum was the standout performer for Cercle Brugge in their match against KV Kortrijk during the first round of the Belgian relegation playoffs.

The 21-year-old scored a goal and provided an assist in Cercle Brugge‘s 2-2 draw on Sunday.

Debut for Ghana

Born to a Ghanaian father and a Nigerian mother, Lawrence Agyekum received his first call-up to the Black Stars following an injury to Elisha Owusu.

The Cercle Brugge midfielder made his debut for Ghana during the March international window, featuring in the Black Stars’ 5-0 home victory against Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The youngster came off the bench in the 83rd minute, replacing Thomas Partey for the remainder of the game.

Lawrence Agyekum at Cercle Brugge

The 2024-25 season has been a breakout year for the young talent, who has started 24 out of 28 games.

A constant presence in the starting lineup, Lawrence has averaged 73 minutes per game this season and leads the Cercle Brugge squad with 2.6 tackles per game.

The RB Salzburg prodigy has solidified his presence in midfield, averaging 5 recoveries per game.

Mercurial against KV Kortrijk

Lawrence Agyekum marked his debut season at Cercle Brugge with his first goal and assist against KV Kortrijk.

The Black Stars midfielder completed the highest number of dribbles (3) and created the second-highest number of chances (2) in 87 minutes, as Cercle Brugge settled for a draw in the match.
