Liverpool confirm partnership with adidas in multi-year deal

Liverpool have announced a return to adidas as their official kit manufacturer starting in August, ending their five-year partnership with Nike.

The Reds have confirmed the new deal will span multiple years, with reports suggesting it will last for five years and be valued at over £300million.

This aligns Liverpool with other top Premier League clubs such as Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester City, who each receive around £60million annually from their deals with adidas, Nike, and Puma.

The Premier League record is held by Manchester United, whose £90million-a-year deal with adidas includes performance-based deductions for failures to qualify for the Champions League and other sporting benchmarks.

Billy Hogan, chief executive officer at LFC, said: “Everyone at the club is incredibly excited to welcome adidas back into the LFC family. We have enjoyed fantastic success together in the past and created some of the most iconic LFC kits of all time.

“adidas and Liverpool share an ambition of success and we couldn’t be more excited to partner together again as we look forward to creating more incredible kits to help drive on-pitch performance. We’d like to thank Nike for their support over the last five years and wish them well for the future.”

While the deal with Nike was valued at a minimum of £30million annually, royalties, commissions, and endorsements – such as those from Liverpool shareholder LeBron James – pushed the total closer to £60million per season.

Adidas previously partnered with Liverpool between 2006 and 2012.

The new agreement will see the German sportswear giant provide kits and training apparel for the men’s, women’s, and academy teams. The deal officially begins on August 1 this year.
