Liverpool confirm signing of Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen

Liverpool have completed the signing of Bayer Leverkusen wing-back Jeremie Frimpong after the club confirmed that they have triggered his €35 million release clause.

The 24-year-old, who was said to be poised on a move to Anfield, has finally got his wish. Frimpong will be replacing Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is joining Real Madrid early in a deal worth £10 million, according to Sky Sports News.
The transfer will be completed when the window opens on Sunday, with a total agreement already reached between all parties.
The Netherlands international full-back played a pivotal role in Leverkusen’s historic unbeaten Bundesliga title-winning campaign last season, scoring 14 goals and providing 12 assists in 47 appearances across all competitions in that season.

Frimpong signed a contract extension with Leverkusen, keeping him in the Bundesliga until 2028 as of October 2023. However, the 12-cap Netherlands defender will now make a switch to the Premier League with Liverpool under manager Arne Slot.
The former Manchester City academy prodigy made his senior debut for the Netherlands in 2023.
Frimpong will now return to England, as he joins from Bayer Leverkusen, where he scored five goals and produced six assists in last season’s Bundesliga.
