Wesley has already established himself as a standout talent in South America
Man City aim to beat Man United to Flamengo wonderkid signature

Manchester City are keen to sign Flamengo wonderkid Wesley, as Pep Guardiola’s side aim to beat city rivals Manchester United to the full-back’s signature.
Born in 2003, Wesley has already established himself as a standout talent in South America, seeing his stock soaring.
He has made over 125 appearances for the senior team as a regular starter and helped secure several domestic honours with the Rio de Janeiro-based side.

The 22-year-old’s technical skillset, tactical awareness, and attacking intent are what have caught City’s attention — traits that align perfectly with Guardiola’s footballing philosophy.
According to Gianluca di Marzio, City are pushing for negotiations in hopes of finalizing an agreement in the coming weeks.

Despite City’s accelerated efforts to secure the signing, they are not alone in the race. City rivals Man United have also expressed keen interest in the Flamengo prospect.
However, Flamengo desires to keep hold of Wesley until after the Club World Cup is the only factor that could pose a threat to any potential deal in the summer.
The Brazilian giants are set to compete in the upcoming edition of the tournament, which will be staged in Miami following the end of domestic competitions.
Club officials believe that the international exposure could further increase Wesley’s stock value.
An earlier report this year indicated that Flamengo rejected a proposal in excess of £20m from Zenit St. Petersburg.

Apparently, the Russian club’s offer was turned down not only due to valuation concerns but also because Wesley was undecided about a move to Russia, given the level of competition.
Moreover, the young defender was on the brink of sealing a move to Serie A side Atalanta during the previous transfer window, but that deal fell through at the last moment.
City are now making a strong effort to bring him to the Etihad, particularly as Guardiola views him as a more attractive long-term candidate compared to Newcastle United’s Tino Livramento.
Despite Flamengo’s hesitation to part ways with the player before the Club World Cup, City are optimistic of reaching an agreement ahead of the tournament.
Now, City would have to fend off United if they are to complete a move for the Brazilian, but the race is heating up fast.
