AC Milan are bracing themselves for an approach once the transfer window opens

Manchester City have identified AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders as a key summer target as they begin plans to rebuild Pep Guardiola’s squad, according to the Telegraph.

Reijnders is a dynamic No.8 who has also been deployed effectively as a defensive midfielder.

Man City see the Netherlands international as someone who can significantly strengthen their central midfield.

AC Milan are bracing themselves for an approach once the transfer window opens.

The Italian club value Reijnders well above the £55million Newcastle United paid for Sandro Tonali, with expectations that any deal could surpass the club-record £57million sale of Kaka to Real Madrid.

City are preparing for a busy summer after a disappointing season marked by a string of defeats and ongoing uncertainty over Champions League qualification.

Reijnders has been a consistent starter at San Siro since his move from AZ Alkmaar, featuring regularly in the Champions League over the past two seasons.

After focusing on defensive reinforcements and a striker in January, bringing forward some of their summer plans, City are now prioritising midfield additions.

Reijnders has been a consistent starter at San Siro since his move from AZ Alkmaar,

Kevin De Bruyne is confirmed to be leaving the club, while Rodri is recovering from a serious injury.

Ilkay Gundogan, now approaching 35, is also in need of support, with the likes of Mateo Kovacic and Nico Gonzalez currently in the frame.

Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White is another midfielder admired by City due to his versatility.

However, Reijnders is firmly among the top targets, and there is a possibility City could move for more than one midfielder during the window.
