Man City step up pursuit of Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White

Gibbs-White’s impressive form has caught the attention of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City

Manchester City have intensified their interest in Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White ahead of the summer transfer window.

Gibbs-White has been one of Forest’s standout performers this season, playing a pivotal role in Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, who sit just outside the Premier League’s top five on goal difference ahead of their Monday night clash with Crystal Palace.

The 24-year-old’s impressive form has caught the attention of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, who reportedly view him as a potential long-term successor to Kevin De Bruyne.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, City are now preparing to move forward in their pursuit of Morgan Gibbs-White.

“Manchester City plan to advance on Morgan Gibbs-White deal in the next weeks as he remains one of the priority targets,” Romano posted on X.

“No issues are expected on personal terms but work to do with Nottingham Forest as they still hope to keep MGW.”

The Forest playmaker has contributed 14 goals this campaign and recently earned recognition at an international level, being called up to the England squad.

While Nottingham Forest remain hopeful of keeping their star man, Romano’s latest update suggests that a summer exit is increasingly likely.

City are not expected to face any obstacles in agreeing personal terms with the player, and Forest are already bracing themselves for his departure.

In anticipation of losing Gibbs-White, Forest have reportedly started drawing up a shortlist of potential replacements.

One name under consideration is Manchester City’s James McAtee, who has enjoyed a solid season despite limited playing time.

The England U21 international has scored seven goals across all competitions this season – a promising return for a player still developing his game.
