Man United forward Marcus Rashford confirms desire to play with Lamine Yamal

Marcus Rashford fancies a move to Barcelona this summer

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has confirmed his desire to join Barcelona and play alongside prodigy Lamine Yamal next summer, following rumours linking him to the Spanish giants.

Rashford has fallen out of favor under manager Ruben Amorim and is facing uncertainties about his future at Old Trafford, having spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa.

Rashford, who has been training in Spain ahead of pre-season, has heaped praise on the 17-year-old sensation during an interview with Spanish influencer Javi Ruiz.

When asked directly if he would like to play alongside Yamal, Rashford said:

“Yes, for sure, Everyone wants to play with the best. Hopefully… we’ll see.”

Barcelona sporting director Deco publicly declared last month that the La Liga champions “like” Rashford, as well as they fancy Liverpool winger Luis Diaz.

Aside from Rashford and Diaz, the Catalan giants are also believed to be interested in Athletic Club winger Nico Williams, with reports indicating that the club have finalised a personal agreement with the player on a potential six-year deal this summer.

According to earlier reports this month, the Red Devils had not received any offers for Rashford, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Villa Park.

Marcus Rashford’s long-term future is still uncertain

The England international is under contract at Old Trafford until 2028, but his future at the club remains unclear, even after a near-perfect performance on loan with Unai Emery’s side.

Rashford, 27, is one of several players linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer as head coach Amorim looks to rebuild his squad after the club’s lowest-ever Premier League finish last season, which saw them finish the season 15th on the standings.

Christian Eriksen, Jonny Evans, and Victor Lindelof have all been released, while Jadon Sancho, Antony, and Alejandro Garnacho are also said to be available.

Meanwhile, Sancho has been linked with a move to Italian giants Juventus, with Napoli also interested in the player, who has a year left on his contract and spent last season on loan at Chelsea.

In terms of incomings, United have completed a £62.5m move to sign Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha from Wolves and have registered an interest in Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo and Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres.
