Manchester City’s pursuit of Juventus star Andrea Cambiaso boosted

Man City showed interest in Cambiaso during the January transfer window

Manchester City’s pursuit of Juventus full-back Andrea Cambiaso has gained momentum, as the Serie A giants close in on a potential replacement, according to the Sun.

This transfer merry-go-round could lead to a substantial windfall for Arsenal.

Man City showed interest in Cambiaso, 25, during the January transfer window, though they later cooled their pursuit.

However, Etihad officials are expected to return for the Italy international in the summer, given his ability to play on both flanks.

Reports from Italy suggest that Juventus have turned their attention to former Arsenal left-back Nuno Tavares as a top target.

Tavares, 25, is currently on loan at Lazio with an obligation to buy for just over £5million and a 40% sell-on clause. Lazio are ready to make the deal permanent and then look to cash in on the Portugal international.

The left-back enjoyed a stellar start to the season, providing eight assists in Serie A by the end of October, but his campaign has been hampered by injuries.

Lazio may struggle to find suitors willing to meet their reported asking price of £34million.

Should Lazio sell Tavares, Arsenal will receive 40% of the proceeds, adding to Mikel Arteta’s transfer budget.

Juventus are also eyeing Club Brugge defender Maxim De Cuyper, who has previously been linked with Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham.

Meanwhile, despite a challenging season by their high standards, Manchester City are still in the hunt for silverware.

Pep Guardiola’s side reached their third consecutive FA Cup final after defeating Nottingham Forest 2-0 at Wembley on Sunday.
