Manchester United consider move for Bundesliga star

Manchester United have now entered the race for Tah’s signature

According to Sky Sports News, Manchester United are actively weighing up a move for Germany international Jonathan Tah ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Bayer Leverkusen centre-back, who has made over 50 appearances for club and country this season, is out of contract at the end of June and has confirmed he will leave the Bundesliga champions as a free agent.

Tah is attracting interest from several top European clubs, including Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona.

Manchester United have now entered the race for his signature as they look to strengthen their defensive options following a disappointing Premier League campaign.

Real Madrid’s pursuit could be bolstered by the expected arrival of current Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso at the Bernabéu, with the pair enjoying a strong working relationship at the BayArena.

Bayern Munich, meanwhile, could offer Tah the opportunity to remain in the Bundesliga, while Barcelona’s interest is complicated by the club’s ongoing financial constraints and LaLiga’s strict salary cap rules.

Barca’s financial issues have previously delayed player registrations – including that of Dani Olmo – casting doubt over their ability to accommodate a deal for Tah this summer.

Speaking after Leverkusen’s 1-1 draw with FC St. Pauli on April 20, Tah confirmed his intention to leave the club but did not indicate when a decision on his next move would be made.

Tah said: “To be honest, I don’t have a timeframe. But the club knows about it. And it’s been the same as it has been all along.”
