The report claims that “the offer is understood to be an initial £65m, with £5m in add-ons.
“Brentford are yet to discuss the offer.”
The Red Devils saw their second bid worth £62.5m rejected by the Bees last week after their opening bid of £55m was also turned down by Brentford.
Mbeumo is believed to prefer a move to Old Trafford despite interest from Tottenham, who recently appointed his former boss, Thomas Frank.
Brentford director of football Phil Giles has disclosed that the 25-year-old would be happy to stay at the club if a deal cannot be agreed with United this summer.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Phil Giles said: “There is significant interest in Bryan. His current preference has been well publicised.
“He had an unbelievable season, and we expected interest in him. From what I understand, he is also, if needs be, happy to stay at Brentford next year as well.”
The Cameroon international has reportedly agreed personal terms with the Red Devils and stands to earn a whopping £250,000-a-week at Old Trafford.
Giles added: “We’ve spoken to Bryan and his representatives. It’s not a given that he’s going to depart this summer.
“If we get the right offer, there is the potential for a deal to be done, but there is only so much we can say now on that.”
Mbeumo has one year left on his Brentford contract, though the club have the option to extend by a further year.
Bryan Mbeumo was signed from Troyes in 2019 for around £5.8m.
Since then, he has emerged as one of Brentford’s most astute signings, helping the club earn promotion from the Championship and firmly establishing himself in the Premier League.
