Maxwell Konadu appointed new head coach of Ghana’s Black Satellites

Former Black Galaxies head coach Maxwell Konadu has been appointed as the new head coach of the Black Satellites, Ghana’s U-20 national team. He takes over from Desmond Ofei, who previously led the side.
Konadu brings a wealth of experience, having managed several top-flight clubs in the Ghana Premier League. His coaching résumé includes spells with Asante Kotoko, Eleven Wonders, Legon Cities, and most recently Nsoatreman FC.

Among his career highlights, he guided Kotoko to the Ghana Premier League title in 2012 and lifted the President’s Cup in 2019.
On the continental stage, Konadu twice led the Black Galaxies to WAFU Championship glory—in 2013 and 2017—and further underlined his pedigree by masterminding Nsoatreman FC’s historic triumph in the 2023/24 MTN FA Cup.
His national team background is equally impressive, having served as assistant coach of the Black Stars under both Akwasi Appiah and Avram Grant. This new role with the Black Satellites marks yet another chapter in his long-standing contribution to Ghanaian football.
Konadu will be assisted by Johnson Smith, deputy coach of Nations FC, and Winfred Dormon, head coach of Dreams FC. Kelvin Agyemang has also been named as the Goalkeepers Coach.
