Mohamed Salah crowned Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year

The Liverpool forward received nearly 90 percent of the votes cast

Mohamed Salah has been named the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year, winning by the largest margin in the 21st century.

The Liverpool forward received nearly 90 percent of the votes cast, a remarkable achievement.

At 32, Salah becomes only the second player to win the prestigious award three times, matching the record set by Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.

In the women’s category, Arsenal’s Alessia Russo claimed the Women’s Footballer of the Year award after a tightly contested race, though she was ultimately a clear winner.

Salah’s incredible achievements at Liverpool have solidified his place in Anfield folklore and cemented his legacy as one of the Premier League’s all-time greats.

His Liverpool teammate, Virgil van Dijk, finished as the runner-up in the voting, with the Dutch defender playing a key role in the club’s continued success.

Salah remains on course to claim the Golden Boot for a record-equalling fourth time

Van Dijk has been instrumental in Liverpool’s triumphs, and his stellar performances helped guide manager Arne Slot to join a select group of managers who have won the Premier League in their debut season in English football.

Newcastle striker Alexander Isak finished third, having played a pivotal role in helping the club win their first trophy in 56 years by securing the Carabao Cup.

Arsenal’s Declan Rice, who was crucial in his team’s Champions League campaign, rounded out the top four.

Rice’s two free-kick goals against Real Madrid at the Emirates are sure to be remembered for years to come.

Outside the top four, 15 other players also received votes, with 918 members eligible to participate in the voting.
