Mohammed Polo urges Black Stars to maintain consistency after back-to-back wins

Ghana won just two out of 10 matches in 2024 and failed to qualify for the 2025 AFCON

Ghanaian football legend Mohammed Polo has called on the Black Stars to build on their recent back-to-back victories in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

After a disappointing 2024, where Ghana won just two out of 10 matches and failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the team started 2025 on a strong note with wins over Chad and Madagascar in Matchday 5 and 6.

Speaking to Joy Sports, Polo, a 1978 AFCON winner, emphasized the need for consistency.

“I think it is very good, especially after missing out on AFCON, which is unprecedented,” he said.

“Winning these matches has given us some hope, but they must keep going because it is not over.

“There are still matches to be played, and consistency in their performance is very important.”
