Newcastle lead race to sign £300k/week City star

Newcastle are believed to be ahead of several suitors for Jack Grealish’s signature

Newcastle United are reported to be ahead of other suitors in the race to sign £300,000-a-week Manchester City star Jack Grealish in the summer.

According to Fichajes, Newcastle are believed to be among several Premier League clubs showing interest in a summer move for Manchester City forward Jack Grealish, .

Eddie Howe’s side are believed leading contenders to sign the City star after the season, as his time at the Etihad Stadium appears likely to come to an end.

The English international has found it difficult getting regular playing time under Pep Guardiola this campaign and is expected to depart in the coming months, with the reigning Premier League champions open to his summer departure.

The 29-year-old is believed to be among Man City’s top earners, taking home a staggering £300,000 per week salary, and has over two years remaining on his current contract, which expires in June 2027.

According to Fichajes, Newcastle see Grealish as an ‘interesting option’ to strengthen their squad ahead of a return to European football in the 2025/26 campaign.

The Carabao Cup-winners are currently third in the Premier League table with six games left to play, and look to have strengthened their place to secure a return to the Champions League after a year out.

The prospect of playing the elite competition requires greater squad depth and experience, and The Toons are no new customers to that information.

Newcastle are believed to be targeting several new faces to their frontline this summer, with a new right-sided winger and a back-up striker on their agenda.

Howe’s side are looking to win the Premier League for the first since winning their last English Championship 98-years ago (1927), adding Grealish to the ranks can help achieve that feat.

Newcastle have won some important trophies in the past, with the latest being the Carabao Cup, having won it for the first time in 70-years.
