Arsenal and Barcelona target Nico Williams has again hinted that he is “super happy” to stay with Athletic Club beyond the summer.

The winger reiterates his desire to continue with the Basque club ahead of their crunch fixture against Manchester United in the Europa League on Thursday.

The 22-year-old has been a subject of transfer target for both Arsenal and Barcelona, but the winger rejected their interest to stay in the summer.

The Spain international is rather focused on helping Bilbao to win the Europa League this season as they clash against their English counterparts come Thursday.

He told Sport: “The dream is to lift the champion’s trophy at San Mamés. I have the opportunity to make history at this club. The dream never ends.

“I’m 100% focused on tomorrow (Thursday), on reaching the final and winning it. I don’t want to look any further.

“I’m super happy here and… well. I’ve always wanted to feel important here. This is a 10/10 season for me.”

Williams has a sizeable €58 million release clause, but it will likely change if he signs a new deal with his boyhood team.

Regardless, Williams is not pressured to move away from Spain. The youngster is rather enthused about the prospects of winning the European competition with Athletic Club, with the final taking place at the club’s Estadio de San Mames.

A move away could be seen as one of the biggest transfers in the summer, from a place where he calls home, and indeed, plays along with his senior brother, Inaki Williams, on both flanks.

Williams comes into Thursday’s clash having a combined total of 10 goals and assists in 27 appearances for Athletic Bilbao in La Liga, while replicating same number in the Europa League in the current campaign.
