Nsoatreman FC captain Daniel Afadzwu has issued a sincere apology to Asante Kotoko, following the tragic incident that occurred during their Ghana Premier League match.
Afadzwu, speaking on Kumasi based Akoma FM on behalf of the entire Nsoatreman FC team and technical staff, extended his deepest regrets to Asante Kotoko, the family of the deceased fan, and the entire football fraternity.
“We apologize and ask Kotoko for forgiveness,” Afadzwu said, his voice filled with emotion. “We were all heartbroken on the day of the tragedy. Our sole aim as footballers was to amuse our devoted fans, not to learn of the death of one of them.”
Afadzwu acknowledged that the incident, regardless of the circumstances, occurred on their home turf, making Nsoatreman FC responsible.
“We have sinned, and we would like them to forgive us, so we can maintain the wonderful friendship we had some time ago,” he pleaded.
The Nsoatreman captain emphasized the unifying power of football, stressing that the sport should bring people together, rather than drive them apart.
“Football brings unity, not separation,” Afadzwu said. “That will not help. I stand in on behalf of all Nsoatreman FC players and the technical team to apologize to Kotoko and ask for their pardon.”
Afadzwu’s heartfelt apology has been hailed as a remarkable display of sportsmanship and leadership, as Nsoatreman FC seeks to heal the wounds of the past and rebuild their relationship with Asante Kotoko.
