Ghana’s win solidifies their position at the top of Group I with 15 points
Otto Addo warns Black Stars not guaranteed spot at 2026 World Cup

Ghana head coach Otto Addo has cautioned that the Black Stars are not yet assured of a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, despite their commanding 3-0 victory over Madagascar in the qualifiers
Thomas Partey was the star of the match, scoring twice, with Mohammed Kudus adding a third goal. Captain Jordan Ayew provided all three assists, showcasing an impressive display in Morocco on Monday.
While the win strengthens Ghana’s position in Group I, coach Addo emphasised the importance of staying focused, stressing that there is still work to be done to secure qualification.

“We are in a good position [to qualify for the 2026 World Cup], but this is also dangerous,” the 49-year-old said.
“Now, I am thinking about how to keep our heads focused [because] the job is really not done.
“Maybe if Comoros wins, it’s just a three-point gap ahead of Comoros, and it’s still a long way to go. We have to stay focused. If anyone thinks we are through, then he’s making a big mistake.”

With four games remaining in the qualifiers, coach Addo stressed the importance of his players maintaining focus and avoiding complacency.
“I have seen a lot of football, a lot of things happening, and we have to stay focused. I am happy, but like I said, the job is really not done,” he added.
Mali Fail to Close Gap on Leaders Ghana
Mali missed an opportunity to close the gap on table-toppers Ghana after being held to a goalless draw at Stade Larbi Zaouli in Morocco.
The result leaves Mali in third place behind Ghana and second-placed Madagascar, while the Central African Republic sit in fifth place, just behind Comoros.
