Real Madrid closing in on Trent Alexander-Arnold deal, 99% complete – Reports

Real Madrid is pushing forward with its plans to strengthen and rebuild ahead of the 2025/26 season and a deal for Liverpool full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold is reportedly all but complete. Alexander-Arnold is out of contract at Liverpool at the end of the season, and having recently entered the final six months of his deal, he is already able to formally negotiate and potentially sign a pre-contract with any overseas club.

Madrid’s Pursuit of Alexander-Arnold

Madrid has been pursuing Alexander-Arnold for some time and is believed to have previously failed with an opportunistic lowball approach to Liverpool in January. However, it appears that the Spanish giants have now agreed on a deal with the England right-back, with only his signature on the paperwork required to complete the transfer. According to reports, “not a single detail remains” in terms of agreeing the proposed contract with Madrid.

Madrid’s Summer Transfer Plans

Alexander-Arnold is not the only target on Madrid’s radar, as the club is also pursuing Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi and Bournemouth centre-back Dean Huijsen. The Spanish publication AS describes Madrid’s transfer plans as a “facelift operation,” aimed at strengthening the squad ahead of the new season.

A Huge Coup for Madrid

If completed, the signing of Alexander-Arnold would be a huge coup for Madrid, following on from the capture of Kylian Mbappe in 2024. The England right-back is widely regarded as one of the best full-backs in the world, and his addition to the Madrid squad would undoubtedly strengthen their chances of success in the coming season.

Only a Late Change of Heart Can Derail the Deal

With the deal reportedly 99% done, it appears that only a late change of heart from Alexander-Arnold can derail Madrid’s plans. However, no problems in that respect are expected, and Madrid fans will be eagerly awaiting the official announcement of the transfer in the coming days.
