Real Madrid could disrupt Liverpool’s plans of signing Florian Wirtz
Real Madrid join race to sign Florian Wirtz

Just when it looked certain, as we wait for an official announcement from Liverpool as “sole winners” in landing the talismanic German midfielder Florian Wirtz, new reports resurface stating Real Madrid have entered the race to sign the Bayer Leverkusen man.
Liverpool will likely be shaking at the moment with the Spanish giants joining the chase for the German international, with  Xabi Alonso reportedly eager for a reunion in Spain.
Now, it is clearer that Wirtz has more “big suitors” than initially anticipated, increasing his stakes as a potentially quality addition should any of Liverpool or Real secure his signature.

According to a report by AS, Real have not given up on Leverkusen midfielder Wirtz and have now entered the race to reunite him with his former manager, Xabi Alonso.
Liverpool opened a bid of €100 million to sign the Leverkusen star just a few weeks ago, marking the Reds’ serious interest in securing the talented playmaker.

Before then, it was a three-way battle between Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, and Real.
Last month, Bayer Leverkusen CEO Fernando Carro set a €150 million asking price for the midfielder, which led City to pull the plug on their pursuit of the midfielder.

Bayern president Herbert Hainer also revealed in an interview with Abendzeitung (via AS), a Munich-based media outlet, that Wirtz is “leaning towards Liverpool”.
However, with Xabi Alonso now appointed as Real Madrid manager, the Spanish club are making a renewed effort to secure his services.
Wirtz was recovering from a torn Anterior Cruciate Ligament(ACL) when Alonso arrived at Leverkusen in October 2022. Under his guidance, the 22-year-old found the form of his life and went on to score 18 and 16 goals in two successive seasons.
