Real Madrid rule out spending ‘crazy’ on midfielders

Real Madrid are open to signing a new midfielder but are unwilling to spend big

Real Madrid have reportedly ruled out spending “crazy” and outside their budget on a midfielder, after already securing the services of Dean Huijsen this summer.

Los Blancos are being smart in their dealings to avoid paying a significantly huge price tag in their search for a midfield replacement for the departing Luka Modric.

Xabi Alonso‘s side might only be a matter of time before also confirming deals to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alvaro Carreras from Benfica.

After placing much effort in strengthening defensive areas of the squad, as planned for the summer, the club’s focus now shifts to signing a midfielder.

In recent months, the Spanish giants have been linked with several midfield stars, including Liverpool sensation Alexis Mac Allister and Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez.

However, a recent report from Cadena SER has offered a fresh angle on Madrid’s plans to sign a new midfielder this summer.

According to the report, the club is now laying back on its expectation for midfield reinforcements this summer – that means the club is more prioritising the need to spend big in the market for a new midfielder.

The report adds that Real Madrid are not going to spend €100 million on a single midfielder, which entirely rules out their pursuit of some of the stars such as Rodri and Enzo Fernandez.

Madrid bosses believe that the current set of midfielders, which includes Jude Bellingham, Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga, Federico Valverde, and Arda Guler, is more than enough to lead the charge, provided they are fully fit.

Despite the unlikely situation of seeing all midfielders fit at all times, the Madrid chiefs are not ready to spend big on a midfielder – the reason why the pursuit of Stuttgart’s Angelo Stiller has been set in motion.

The idea is to negotiate a cut-price deal for the services of the 24-year-old German midfielder for a move, and not to spend a fortune on a midfielder this summer.
