Sports Minister Kofi Adams visits Black Stars ahead of 2026 World Cup qualifiers

The Black Stars opened camp on Monday

Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Iddi Adams (Hon.) visited the Black Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday to motivate the team ahead of their upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.

Accompanied by Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, Director General of the National Sports Authority, Hon. Adams extended a warm welcome to the team in Accra and wished them the best of luck in their upcoming fixtures.

He assured the players that the stadium would be in excellent condition for the match against Chad.

The Black Stars, who opened camp on Monday, had nine players participate in training at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The players present for Monday’s session included Benjamin Asare, Joseph Wollacott, Lawrence Ati-Zigi, Gideon Mensah, Kamaradini Mamudu, Razak Simpson, Antoine Semenyo, Salisu Mohammed, and Kamal Deen Sulemana.

The rest of the squad was expected to join the camp by Monday night ahead of Tuesday’s training session.

Ghana will face Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21, before taking on Madagascar on Monday, March 24, 2025.

The Black Stars currently sit level on nine points with Comoros in Group I, having recorded three wins and one defeat in their four matches so far.

Ghana’s qualifying campaign began with a 1-0 victory over Madagascar, followed by a narrow defeat to Comoros.

They bounced back with consecutive wins over Mali and the Central African Republic in June last year.

Kofi Adams voiced strong confidence in the Black Stars’ preparation for their pivotal 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.

“I want to call on Ghanaians to support the team. I know we’re going to win both games,” Adam told 3sports.

“The players are well energized, well prepared and psychologically I believe they are ready for both games we’re ready for the two matches and we will win.”
