Tottenham confirm Igor Tudor as new interim manager

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed ex-Juventus manager Igor Tudor as the new interim manager for the rest of the season, after both sides agreed on a deal on Friday.
Tottenham were set to appoint Igor Tudor as interim manager on Friday, with reports indicating that the north London club have struck a deal with the former Juventus manager to take over the interim role until the summer.
Tudor, who was sacked by Serie A side Juventus in October last year, will succeed Thomas Frank, who was sacked on Tuesday following Spurs’ 2-1 defeat at home to Newcastle United in the Premier League.

The 47-year-old Croatian will be the north London side’s third manager of the season, following the sacking of Ange Postecoglou, who led them to the Europa League title after 17 years without a trophy, and Frank, the English manager hired from Brentford.
Tudor fits the Spurs’ brief with vast experience and a reputation for making an impact at short notice. According to sources, there is no permanent option in the deal.
In a Club Statement, confirming Tudor’s appointment: “We are pleased to confirm the appointment of Igor Tudor as Men’s Head Coach until the end of the season, subject to work permit.
“Igor joins us with a clear focus: to improve performances, deliver results and move us up the Premier League table.
“His mandate is straightforward – bring organisation, intensity and competitive edge to the squad at a decisive stage of the campaign.”

Speaking about his arrival, Igor said: “It is an honour to join this Club at an important moment.
“I understand the responsibility I have been handed and my focus is clear. To bring greater consistency to our performances and compete with conviction in every match.
“There is strong quality in this playing squad, and my job is to organise it, energise it and improve our results quickly.”
On the appointment, Sporting Director Johan Lange added: “Igor brings clarity, intensity and experience of stepping into challenging moments and producing impact.
“Our objective is straightforward – to stabilise performances, maximise the quality within the squad and compete strongly in the Premier League and Champions League.”
Meanwhile, there is no permanent option in the deal. Meanwhile, the short-term appointment keeps alive the potential for Mauricio Pochettino’s return come the summer.
Pochettino is committed to leading the USA at the World Cup, but sources on both sides have revealed that there is a willingness for the Argentine to return to the team he led to a Champions League final.
