Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly considered Real Madrid winger Rodrygo as a possible replacement for former captain Son Heung-min, who joined Major League Soccer side Los Angeles FC on a record-breaking deal this summer.

With Son’s departure, speculation about Rodrygo’s uncertain future with Los Blancos has once again resurfaced, with Thomas Frank’s side being linked with the Brazilian forward.

According to SER, Rodrygo is among the Madrid players with the highest likelihood of departing this summer. With Son’s exit on the horizon, Tottenham are reportedly preparing a €60 million (£52 million) bid for the 24-year-old.

The Brazilian international has been linked with several Premier League clubs throughout the summer, including Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, and now Tottenham, with fresh reports indicating that manager Xabi Alonso is not fully satisfied with the versatile forward.

Additional reports suggest the forward may be deemed surplus to requirements, facing stiff competition in Madrid’s starting lineup from Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior, Jude Bellingham, and rising star Gonzalo Garcia, all reportedly ranked higher in the pecking order.

For now, Rodrygo’s future remains uncertain. Once the club’s golden boy, he now faces significant doubts about his continued stay in the Spanish capital.

Former Santos FC star Rodrygo, whose contract with Madrid extends until the summer of 2028, has made 270 appearances for the Spanish giants, scoring 68 goals and providing 51 assists across all competitions.

During his tenure, he has secured three La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey, and two Champions League trophies, and also contributed to Madrid’s Club World Cup triumph in 2022 and two UEFA Super Cup victories.

Rodrygo is currently training with the first team during their condensed pre-season campaign. It remains uncertain whether he will still be with the club when the transfer window closes in a few weeks.
