Tottenham prepared to break transfer record for Premier League star

Tottenham are eager to inject some much-needed star power into their squad

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly ready to spend big in their pursuit of Wolves forward Matheus Cunha this summer.

Following a disappointing 2024-25 campaign under Ange Postecoglou, Spurs are eager to inject some much-needed star power into their squad.

In a bid to restore confidence among a disillusioned fanbase, chairman Daniel Levy is said to be prepared to greenlight a record-breaking move for the Brazilian attacker.

According to Fichajes, Cunha is valued at around €75million (£64.7m), a fee that would eclipse the club’s current transfer record – the £55million spent on Dominic Solanke last summer.

With Richarlison potentially on his way out and Heung-Min Son struggling to recapture his best form, Cunha is seen as an ideal addition to Tottenham’s forward line.

However, Tottenham face stiff competition for the 25-year-old’s signature.

Manchester United, Arsenal, Nottingham Forest, and Aston Villa are all reportedly interested in bringing Cunha on board ahead of the 2025-26 season.

Despite signing a new contract with Wolves earlier this campaign, it’s believed that the club would be open to letting him leave if a suitable offer is made.

The Brazilian has been outspoken recently, and in an interview last month, he expressed his ambition to advance in his career.

“I had a lot of offers but I wouldn’t feel well if I had done it,” the Brazil international said.

“Some things you can’t control but I couldn’t leave the club in the middle of the season, in a difficult situation, in the relegation zone.

“Now, we’re close to achieving our goal [of staying up]. But I’ve made it clear that I need to take the next step. I want to fight for titles, for big things. I have potential.”
