Vinicius Junior set to snub €1billion offer from Saudi Arabia

Vinicius Junior is reportedly set to reject a €1billion offer from Saudi Arabia and commit to a new contract with Real Madrid.

According to Cadena SER, the Brazilian forward is poised to end the speculation surrounding his future by signing a three or four-year deal with the Spanish giants.

Vinicius had been mulling over a lucrative five-year contract from a Saudi Pro League club, which included a €300million transfer fee.

However, he was reportedly hesitant about committing to a long-term deal in the Middle East, particularly with the offer demanding that he stay for more than just a couple of seasons.

The €1billion contract offer from Saudi Arabia was a tempting proposition, with Vinicius’ representatives engaging in multiple meetings with officials from the Middle Eastern league.

Their discussions began in September, continued in December, and even saw them meet with the player in Prague in February.

Despite the enormous financial offer, Vinicius is believed to have been uncertain about leaving Real Madrid due to his desire to be paid on par with other stars such as Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham.

Coming second in the 2024 Ballon d’Or, Vinicius sees himself on equal footing with Madrid’s leading stars and expects his new contract to reflect that.

With a resolution regarding his future imminent, the Brazilian’s focus now turns to Real Madrid’s upcoming fixtures.

Los Blancos are set to face Alavés in La Liga on Sunday, aiming to cut the gap to Barcelona to four points at the top of the table.

Following that, they will host Arsenal next Wednesday, trailing 3-0 on aggregate in their Champions League quarter-final.
