Vision FC head coach Nana Kweku Agyeman is confident about his team’s prospects as they prepare to host Heart of Lions at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex on Sunday.
The match will be a crucial encounter in the Ghana Premier League’s Matchday 23.
Heart of Lions, currently in third place – just one point behind league leaders Bibiani GoldStars – will be determined to bounce back after their narrow defeat to Hearts of Oak in their previous game before the league’s suspension.
Despite the setback, Bashiru Hayford’s side have had an impressive campaign, securing nine wins, six draws, and four losses from their 19 games so far.
Meanwhile, Vision FC will look to build on their recent victory over Accra Lions.
Although the newly promoted side sits just five points above the relegation zone, their consistent performances indicate they are on track to retain their top-flight status for next season.
“Beating Accra Lions gave us momentum, but then the league was halted. Now, we need to rebuild that momentum,” Nana Kweku Agyeman said in his pre-match press conference.
“We need to excite our fans, give them something to look forward to, and also set high expectations for ourselves.
“As a technical team, we have done our job, and now we hope to go to Tema and secure a win against Heart of Lions on Sunday.
In their only previous league encounter, Heart of Lions triumphed in an action-packed match, securing a 1-0 victory.
Ghana Premier League is Back
The Ghana Premier League is set to resume on Friday, March 7, 2025, after an unexpected one-month break following the passing of Asante Kotoko fan Francis Yaw Frimpong.
Yaw Frimpong, affectionately known as Pooley, tragically lost his life after a heated argument with an unidentified man during the game.
The match resumed following a brief pause, with Asante Kotoko ultimately losing 1-0 to Nsoatreman.
Following Pooley’s death, the GFA held several meetings with key stakeholders, including the Ghana Police Service, to enhance security and safety at league venues.
