West Ham provide lifeline for Man City’s Jack Grealish

Jack Grealish’s £300k-per-week wages could hinder any potential move to West Ham this summer

West Ham United have come to the rescue of Manchester City outcast Jack Grealish, offering an escape route out of the Manchester club this summer, according to talkSPORT.

West Ham have reportedly expressed interest in the 29-year-old forward, who has fallen out of favor at Man City, notably being omitted from Pep Guardiola’s squad for the recently concluded FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.

The Hammers are actively seeking attacking reinforcements to replace the versatile Ghanaian star Mohammed Kudus, who recently joined London rivals Tottenham Hotspur on a £55 million deal, and have been closely monitoring Grealish’s situation at the Etihad Stadium.

However, the English international’s huge weekly wages of £300,000 could slow down any hope of a potential move to manager Graham Potter’s side.

West Ham’s pursuit of Grealish has gained traction after Tottenham withdrew their interest in the £100 million winger -while also showing interest in more probable attacking options.

Grealish faces an uncertain future after a challenging 2024/25 season, where he started just 16 matches under Pep Guardiola – surprisingly, playing just seven games in the Premier League, marking his most limited playing time in a City shirt.

Grealish’s exclusion from the squad further signals that his tenure at City may be approaching its conclusion, having made only 32 appearances across all competitions last season.

He contributed only 8 goals and assists in all competitions last term, while registering only one game in 2025 for the Cityzens.

Players such as Jérémy Doku, Phil Foden, Savinho, and January signing Omar Marmoush were favored over Jack Grealish, who joined City from Aston Villa for a staggering £100 million in August 2021.

Driven by the desire to secure a spot in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the 2026 World Cup, Grealish recognizes that consistent playing time is essential to strengthen his case for selection.

Since he arrived at City, Grealish has won many trophies, including three Premier League titles, an FA Cup, and the Champions League.

The best moments of his career at City arrived when he helped them to win the treble in his second season, while playing a pivotal role in their triumph, registering 16 goals in all competitions.

Securing Grealish’s signature would be a significant recruitment for West Ham manager Graham Potter as he aims to guide the team back into the Premier League’s top half.

Under Potter’s leadership, West Ham finished the 2024/25 season in 14th place with 43 points, five points ahead of 17th-placed Tottenham.
