Vinicius Jr has weighed in on Brazil’s defeat to Argentina in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers on Wednesday, insisting that his team played badly and surely needs to improve in the coming matches.
Argentina put four past Brazil in utter dominance at the Estadio Monumental in what was a game Brazil fans could not believe unfolding right before their eyes.
Vinicius, Matheus Cunha and Raphinha led the line of attack for Brazil, yet could only find the back of the net once after a Cristian Romero error at the back.
Speaking to the press after the game, Vinicius gave credit to Argentina for their excellent performance, yet stated that Brazil played so badly and need to improve in the next international window.
“We played very badly and Argentina played an excellent game in front of their fans. We have to rethink everything we did… this can’t happen. We need to improve and not give up, only 1 year is left till World Cup”, he said.
The defeat to Argentina means Brazil sit in fourth place on the South American World Cup qualification standings, six points off the top with a few matches to end the qualification series.
