Tottenham eyeing Andoni Iraola as potential successor to Ange Postecoglou

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly considering Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola as a potential replacement for Ange Postecoglou, casting doubt over the Australian’s future at the club.

Postecoglou has faced increasing pressure this season, with Spurs slipping down the Premier League table after securing a fifth-place finish in his debut campaign.

Iraola arrived in the Premier League at the same time as Postecoglou, having impressed during his tenure at Rayo Vallecano.

While his first season on the south coast had a slow start, he has since overseen significant improvement at Bournemouth.

Despite a recent dip, picking up just one point from their last four games, the Cherries sit 10th in the table, thanks in part to an 11-game unbeaten run earlier in the season. They also remain in the FA Cup and are set to face Manchester City on Sunday.

Spurs, currently 10 points behind Iraola’s side, recently salvaged a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth in the league.

Meanwhile, Postecoglou still has the opportunity to finish the season on a high, with Tottenham set to face Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League quarter-finals.

According to The Athletic, Iraola is Tottenham’s preferred candidate should they decide to part ways with Postecoglou.

The report claims that the 58-year-old’s future beyond this season is in “serious doubt,” though no final decision has been made.

Postecoglou still has another year remaining on his contract, and a strong finish to the campaign could yet see him retain his position.

Andoni Iraola, who also has a year left on his current deal, isn’t the only name on Spurs’ radar. Fulham boss Marco Silva and Brentford manager Thomas Frank are also reportedly being considered as potential alternatives.
