Ghana’s Lawrence Agyekum named Cercle Brugge Player of the Month

Lawrence Agyekum, a new midfielder for the Black Stars, was chosen as Cercle Brugge’s March Player of the Month.

In March, the diligent midfielder defeated Lucas Perrin to win the most votes from supporters and be named the team’s best player.

With his first league goal in the Belgium Pro League, Agyekum, who was invited to Ghana for the first time during the March international break, capped off an incredible time. In March, he played five games for the team, starting each one.

With Cercle Brugge competing in Belgium’s promotion-relegation play-off, the 21-year-old will be looking to finish the season on a strong note.

In Ghana’s World Cup qualifying match against Chad, the former member of the West Africa Football Academy made his debut.

The Black Stars are in a good position in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The team is currently top of Group I with 15 points.

Otto Addo’s side need three wins from their next four games to book a place in the World Cup for the fifth time in their history.

Ghana made appearances at the 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2022 World Cups.
