Maxwell Konadu opens up about departure from Black Leopards

Former Asante Kotoko and Black Stars assistant coach Maxwell Konadu has shed light on his departure from South Africa’s Black Leopards.

“We started the season well, worked extremely hard, and at one point, we were second on the table,” Konadu said.
“But after drawing three consecutive home games, doubts began to creep in. Management grew impatient, and we mutually agreed to part ways.”
Konadu managed just six wins in 17 matches during his tenure at Black Leopards.
Despite the relatively short stint, Konadu described his experience as valuable, saying, “I decided to take on the challenge, not for the financial incentives but to explore the South African market and their style of play,”.
“It was a great learning experience, and I consider it a success,” Konadu added. The former coach’s decision to leave Black Leopards was likely influenced by the team’s inconsistent form, which saw them draw three consecutive home games.

Now back in Ghana, Maxwell Konadu is weighing his next move. He has had conversations with teams outside the country but remains in no rush, preferring to wait and make the right choice.
“I’ve had some discussions with teams outside the country, but I’m not in a hurry,” Konadu said. “I want to take my time and make the right decision. I’m looking for the right opportunity that aligns with my goals and values.”
Konadu’s departure from Black Leopards marks the end of a brief but eventful stint in South Africa. His experience and insights will undoubtedly be valuable in his future endeavors.
