Kylian Mbappe has been ruled out of Real Madrid’s La Liga trip to Getafe and is also a doubt for the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona.

The 25-year-old was forced off in the 75th minute of Real Madrid’s 2-1 second-leg defeat to Arsenal in the Champions League quarter-finals following an awkward fall in a physical challenge with Declan Rice.

Visibly in pain, Mbappe was substituted, with Brahim Diaz replacing him on the pitch.

Without their forward, Los Blancos had to dig deep in their home fixture against Athletic Club on Sunday, a match Mbappe was already suspended for.

Midfielder Federico Valverde stepped up in dramatic fashion, scoring a stoppage-time goal to secure a hard-fought 1-0 victory.

Speaking ahead of the Getafe game on Wednesday night, Carlo Ancelotti provided an update on Mbappe and left-back Ferland Mendy: “They are not ready just yet, but they will train over the next few days.

“I believe both should be fit by Saturday.”

Mbappe is currently experiencing a rare dry spell, having gone five matches without finding the back of the net – an unusual drought for a player of his caliber.

During Real Madrid’s match against Athletic Club, the Bernabéu crowd made their feelings known when Mbappé appeared on the big screen.

Despite the jeers and whistles, Carlo Ancelotti was quick to defend his star player, stating, “He is upset because he wants to help the team. He is doing everything he can to recover and be ready for Saturday.”

The upcoming Copa del Rey final could prove to be a pivotal moment in Mbappe’s first season with Real Madrid.
