Ancelotti says Camavinga and Alaba are ruled out for the Copa final

Fran will start against Barca- Ancelotti

Carlo Ancelotti on Fran Garcia and David Alaba

Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that Real Madrid will have to rely on the services of Fran Garcia in the Copa del Rey final this weekend as Eduardo Camavinga and David Alaba are ruled out for the upcoming classico due to injury.

On Wednesday night in Real’s 1-0 win over Getafe, Camavinga was taken off after a collision, with Alaba coming on in his place right after the opening 45 minutes of the game.

After the match, Ancelotti revealed that his team will be unable to count on the services of both Camavinga and Alaba, insisting that both fullbacks had picked up an injury in the away trip to Getafe.

Now, he says Fran Garcia is expected to step in for Real this weekend against Barcelona, who already beat them twice this term.

“Camavinga and David Alaba have muscle injuries. They are bot not expected to be ready for the game against Barcelona and we will only have Fran Garcia available to play for us as a left back, but he will be ready, and we will be ready”, he said after the game.

“Mendy could return, but we will need a few tests to be sure of his participation. Fran will play and hopefully he has a great game”, Ancelotti added.

Should Real edge Barcelona in the final, it would be their second Spanish Cup title in three years, after their 2-1 win over Mallorca in the 2022/23 season.
