Real Betis have confirmed that Antony is eager to extend his loan spell for another season as the Manchester United winger continues to impress in La Liga.
Since his January move to Spain, the Brazilian has hit the ground running, scoring two goals and providing two assists in just five league appearances. His recent standout performance in Betis’ 2-1 victory over Real Madrid has only strengthened his case for a prolonged stay.
Antony is set to return to Old Trafford at the end of the season, but discussions about keeping him in Seville are already underway. Betis CEO Ramon Alarcon revealed in an interview with Canal Sur’s El Pelotazo, as relayed by Mundo Deportivo, that the player has expressed his desire to remain at the club.
“The other day, Antony told me that he wanted to stay another year,” Alarcon shared. “He feels very comfortable here and was surprised by how quickly we helped him settle into the city.”
The 24-year-old has also spoken openly about his happiness in Spain, emphasizing how much he enjoys life at Betis.
“The most important thing is that I have found myself again,” Antony said. “I am happy, and that reflects on the pitch. In four games, I scored three goals and provided an assist. I was preparing for this moment, and now I’m enjoying it. The sun helps a lot—I wake up every day with a smile, and that’s very important.”
With Antony thriving in La Liga, Betis will be keen to negotiate an extended loan deal with Manchester United. Whether the Red Devils are willing to sanction another temporary move—or even a permanent transfer—remains to be seen.
