Real Madrid look to agree £1m deal with Liverpool for Trent Alexander-Arnold

Real Madrid have approached Liverpool about signing the England international

Real Madrid are in talks with Liverpool to secure a deal that would allow Trent Alexander-Arnold to join the Spanish giants before the upcoming Club World Cup.

Alexander-Arnold, who confirmed he will leave the Reds when his contract expires on 30 June, has attracted interest from the La Liga club.

With the Club World Cup scheduled to begin on June 15 and conclude on July 13, Real Madrid have approached Liverpool about signing the England international ahead of time.

Finance expert Stefan Borson told Football Insider that the two clubs are likely to agree on a deal worth around £1million for the 26-year-old.

Having come through the ranks at Anfield, Trent Alexander-Arnold has made the right-back position his own since his first-team debut in 2016.

The Liverpool academy graduate has since accumulated 353 appearances for the club, including 43 outings this season, where he has registered four goals and eight assists.

Under new manager Arne Slot, Liverpool clinched the Premier League title this season, marking an impressive first campaign.

Borson also suggested that Liverpool could save on Alexander-Arnold’s salary by agreeing to an early release to Real Madrid.

He said: “I would think they will reach an agreement.

“It seems to me pretty unlikely they’re going to want to do that, so I would think they’ll be grown up about it.

They may want a small amount of compensation. Maybe £1million, something relatively token like that.

“But you have to remember, they’re also going to make the saving on not paying his salary if he’s going to sign for Real Madrid early.

I suspect it’s going to probably be more likely related to what he’s due from Liverpool for that final period.
