Real Madrid to proceed with Jude Bellingham shoulder injury after Club World Cup

Real Madrid are said to have made preparations for Jude Bellingham’s shoulder injury after the Club World Cup, which ends on July 13th, according to journalist Mario Cortegana.

Jude Bellingham, who has been dealing with a persistent shoulder injury for over a year, has finally received the green light from Madrid to undergo surgery after the maiden edition of the Club World Cup.

Bellingham has been officially dealing with a shoulder injury since first dislocating it with Real Madrid in a 0-0 draw at home against Rayo Vallecano on November 5, 2023.

While he finished that match, he would then miss the next two games, as well as England’s two matches that November, which were a pair of Euro 2024 qualifiers.

According to The Athletic, the English international will be sidelined for 12 weeks after undergoing the knife, and is expected to miss a large part of the 2025/26 La Liga season under potential new manager Xabi Alonso.

Earlier reports by The Athletic revealed that Madrid sources, speaking on the condition of anonymity, had indicated their understanding was that Bellingham would require surgery at some point to ensure the shoulder fully heals properly, and to avoid a high risk of further dislocations.

Bellingham has been pivotal to Carlo Ancelotti’s success at the Bernabeu since he arrived from Dortmund in the summer of 2023; however, tight fixtures have prevented the 21-year-old from taking time off for surgery since November 2023.

Los Blancos’ plan is for Bellingham to undergo surgery at the same clinic visited by Ferland Mendy, Antonio Rudiger, and Eder Militao for their respective operations this season.

Madrid are yet to ascertain if the former Dortmund attacker has any history of a dislocated shoulder injury before his recent one against Rayo in his first season in Spain.

Despite the uncertainty, Madrid staff sources digging have revealed that they were aware of shoulder problems during his spell at Borussia Dortmund between 2020 and 2023.

Bellingham has made 51 appearances in all competitions for Madrid this season, providing 14 goals and 14 assists.

The inaugural Club World Cup runs from June 15 to July 13. Madrid are placed with Al Hilal, Pachuca, and Red Bull Salzburg in Group H.
