Liverpool agree to let Trent Alexander-Arnold join Real Madrid early

Liverpool have agreed to allow Trent Alexander-Arnold to join Real Madrid early in a deal worth £10million, according to Sky Sports News.

The 26-year-old will now feature for Madrid at the Club World Cup, which kicks off on June 15.

Alexander-Arnold, who had already confirmed his departure from the Reds this summer, has agreed to a six-year contract with his new club.

He was set to leave Liverpool on a free transfer when his contract expired on June 30.

FIFA recently approved an additional transfer window from June 1 to June 10, allowing clubs to register new players ahead of the expanded month-long Club World Cup.

Alexander-Arnold has been with Liverpool since joining the Premier League champions at the age of six.

During his time at Anfield, he won two Premier League titles, the Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FA Cup, and League Cup.

Earlier this month, Alexander-Arnold announced his decision to leave in pursuit of a “new challenge” and to push himself “personally and professionally.”

He finishes his Liverpool career with 23 goals and 86 assists in 352 appearances across all competitions.

Alexander-Arnold will reunite in Madrid with England teammate Jude Bellingham, as well as former Liverpool and Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso.

Alonso has recently taken over as Real Madrid’s head coach, succeeding Carlo Ancelotti after the club failed to secure a major domestic or European trophy for the first time since the 2020/21 season.
