Arsenal hold talks with Atletico Madrid over star Julian Alvarez

Arsenal have reportedly held talks over the signing of Atletico Madrid star forward Julian Alvarez, according to reports from talkSPORT.
Alvarez moved to the La Liga giants just two seasons ago, having won almost everything there is to be won in both club football and at the world stage, at such a young age.
At 25, Alvarez is already a World Cup winner with Argentina, having won the Champions League and Premier League with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City before moving to Madrid to join Diego Simeone’s side.

The Argentine forward is now linked with a move back to the Premier League, and the reports indicate that Atleti could be ready to sanction a deal for the former Man City star, who won the treble with Guardiola’s side, for €100 million (£86.8m).
Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta already has a strong working relationship with World Cup winner Alvarez, having previously negotiated his transfer from City to Atletico.
Meanwhile, fellow Premier League giants, Chelsea, have also been linked with a move for the Atletico star in the past.
Barcelona have also been linked with the prospects of signing the Argentine international, and sources suggest they are seen as favourites to secure his signature.

Arsenal’s current centre-forward options have struggled this season; Viktor Gyokeres and Gabriel Jesus have managed just six league goals between them, while Kai Havertz has been largely sidelined by injury.
The Gunners are favourites to win the Premier League title this season, sitting comfortably at the top with seven points clear with 16 matches to go, and remain very much in contention on all four trophy fronts.
Mikel Arteta’s side are already through to the last 16 of the Champions League and are guaranteed a top-two finish in the league phase.
Arsenal have not won a major trophy since lifting the FA Cup in 2020, whilst it has been 22 years since their last league title.
