Kobbie Mainoo’s new contract with Man United will expire in 2031
Man United confirm midfielder Kobbie Mainoo’s long-term contract

Manchester United have confirmed the securing of a long-term contract extension for midfielder Kobbie Mainoo on improved terms, with the player’s fortunes at the club revived following Ruben Amorim’s departure.
Mainoo has been impressive under interim head coach Michael Carrick, who has guided United to 3rd place in the Premier League standings and is all set to secure Champions League football for next season, barring any unexpected slip.
The English international’s contract was set to expire in 2027, with reports indicating both him and Harry Maguire were close to agreeing on new terms in March. However, the United defender’s contract was announced later in the month.

News of an agreement between the midfielder and the club was confirmed on April 28, that United had tied down Kobbie Mainoo to a long-term deal, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.
The Red Devils have now confirmed the 20-year-old’s contract, which includes a significant pay rise. His previous contract was signed in 2023, when the midfielder was just 17 and was set to expire in 2027.
Mainoo’s new five-year contract, which runs until 2031, highlights the crucial role he now plays in the United side. If he maintains his current level of performance, all signs suggest he is set for even greater things in the years ahead.
The new contract represents a remarkable turnaround in Mainoo’s fortunes at Old Trafford. Just months ago, he was not in Amorim’s plans, and his future at the club appeared to be hanging in the balance.

He is now considered amongst the club’s top ten earners, following the extension of his new contract in April.
The Man United academy product, who joined the club at the age of nine, has since made 98 appearances for the club, providing 3 assists and scoring 7 goals in all competitions.
Speaking to the official club website, Mainoo admitted: “Manchester United has always been my home; this special club means everything to my family.
“I have grown up seeing the impact that our club has on our city, and I relish the responsibility that comes with wearing this shirt.
“From The Cliff, to Littleton Road, to Carrington and ultimately Old Trafford, the journey so far has been incredible. I have the privilege of living my dream every single day, with the same relentless desire to succeed here as when I joined my first training session at the age of six.
“We can all feel the momentum building inside the club. I am determined to step up and play my role in helping Manchester United to regularly fight for major trophies in the years ahead.”
He made his first-team debut and established himself in the senior squad under Erik ten Hag, and became the 243rd academy graduate to play for the first team.
Mainoo was also included in Thomas Tuchel’s latest England squad, with the 20-year-old featuring in both games against Uruguay and Japan.
