Hansi Flick is set to extend his contract with Barcelona until 2029

Hansi F;ick set to extend his Barca contract

Barcelona have reportedly reached an agreement in principle to renew the contract of head coach Hansi Flick to continue his work with the reigning La Liga champions.

According to reports from renowned journalist Florian Plattenberg, Flick and his agent, Pini Zahavi have agreed to continue with Barcelona beyond 2027, when his current contract is due to expire.

The new deal is expected to be a two-year contract extension, which looks like a deserving reward for the German manager’s impact at the Catalan club since his arrival.

The 61-year-old, who guided Barca to the La Liga title in his first season, is now on course to win a second consecutive title at the expense of arch-rivals Real Madrid, and will sign a new deal until 2029, with an option to extend for an extra year.

Flick can be credited for the Blaugrana’s resurgence in the domestic scene – even for a young squad, he’s got them playing very productive and entertaining football on the continent.

He has overseen 112 games at the helm, while picking up 85 victories in the process, and recording a remarkable 310 goals in these games.

In La Liga, his record stands up against any Barcelona manager in history. Flick has won 2.44 points per game in charge of the Blaugrana in the elite division, a better record than Luis Enrique’s (2.41) and only marginally short of Pep Guardiola’s (2.45).

The German tactician also appears to have created a harmonious atmosphere in the Barca dressing room, in stark contrast to that of their Los Blancos counterparts, where chaos has reigned throughout this season.

Amidst a background of difficult economic circumstances at Barcelona, Flick has provided steady guidance both on and off the field, creating a team that is both exciting and successful.

With the core of this squad still young, it is a logical decision for the Catalan club to have the former Bayern boss spearhead them for the next three years.
