Andy Robertson reveals Arne Slot’s pre-season message ahead of title charge

Liverpool are the clear favourites to win this season’s Premier League title

Andy Robertson has revealed what new manager Arne Slot told his players during pre-season, as the Dutch coach made it clear he was determined to win the Premier League in his debut campaign.

Liverpool are the clear favourites to win this season’s Premier League title for a record-equalling 20th time. The Reds are currently holding a 15-point lead over second-placed Arsenal at the top of the table.

After finishing behind Manchester City and Arsenal in the past two seasons, Slot, who succeeded Jurgen Klopp last summer, is resolute in his mission to bring the title back to Anfield.

During their pre-season tour in the US, Slot shared his ambition with the players, motivating them to give their all for the upcoming season, as revealed by Robertson.

“When you’re at a club like Liverpool, you can’t afford a settling-in period. It’s a massive club that expects to win trophies – and the manager was very clear on that from his first day,” the Scotland skipper said.

“I remember his first meeting in America, and he basically said, ‘we finished third last season and the season before, but we now want to finish above the other two.’

“So, in his mind, it was clear that he was coming to win trophies. It wasn’t like he’d be happy with the top four.”
