Arsenal are reportedly prepared to offer stiff competition for Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi amid strong links to other Premier League clubs, particularly Manchester City, who find themselves in pole position to sign the defender.

Guehi has been a subject of transfer speculations for a while now, linking him to Liverpool in the past. Palace pulled the plug last summer in a £35 million transfer move to Anfield, after reports emerged that Oliver Glasner’s side failed to find a replacement for the Palace captain.

Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have also been linked with the Palace captain in the past, but Pep Guardiola’s City are now favourites to secure the signature of the 25-year-old, who becomes a free agent this summer.

Arsenal’s next move remains uncertain, and it will be interesting if they launch a January bid for the English defender or patiently wait until summer, when the Palace captain becomes a free agent.

Man City were set to hijack Liverpool’s move for Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi in the early days of the new year, but will now face serious competition from the current Premier League leaders.

The Gunners were keen on him last summer but ultimately looked elsewhere, splashing out on Spanish prodigy Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia and securing Piero Hincapié from Bayer Leverkusen.

However, Arsenal remain huge admirers of the centre back, and there will be no shortage of suitors among Europe’s elite clubs if Guehi opts to see out the final six months of his contract and depart on a free transfer.

It will also take a huge offer from City to convince Palace to sell in January, even though his contract is running down.

Palace is fully aware of City’s defensive crisis after losing key players in that department, Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias to injury, with John Stones also out. While also informed they can get a similar fee in January because City are very keen to replace their key men.

The Eagles must now carefully balance the benefits of retaining their captain—with European competition still alive, an FA Cup run on the horizon, and genuine hopes of securing another continental spot, his leadership could prove invaluable.

City would need to commit to massive wages and a hefty transfer fee, putting them firmly in the driving seat—yet rival clubs are closely monitoring the situation, ready to pounce if the deal falls through now or opens up further down the line.

The Gunners could view Guehi as an absolute no-brainer on a free transfer this summer, thanks to his outstanding versatility and leadership qualities—despite already boasting one of the Premier League’s finest centre-back pairings in William Saliba and Gabriel.
