Things got a little messy for Ipswich as they were left to chase shadows, resulting in a clumsy tackle from Ipswich left back Leif Davis bearing down on Saka’s Achilles to receive a straight red card from Chris Kavanagh, with VAR agreeing with the call.
The sending off made it easier for the Champions League semi-finalist -all happening in the first half of the game, with the hosts already two goals down – then, a man down.
Saka, the main orchestrator, was then booed on every touch by the Ipswich fans. The Arsenal winger ended the first half by missing three big chances inside the box, and was then taken off before the hour mark to receive treatment on the Achilles injury sustained in Davis’s challenge.
